Description
Shub-Niggurath is one of the most perverse and fecund entities within the Mythos—an Outer God of grotesque fertility, eternally birthing monstrous progeny into the corners of forgotten worlds. Unlike other Great Old Ones, She is not bound or sleeping but endlessly expanding, seeping through the veil between realities via dark rites and living shrines hidden in ancient forests. Her form is never fully seen, only suggested: a seething mass of writhing tentacles, hooves, mouths, and eyes that churns in a constant state of reproductive delirium. From wooded glades to festering dimensions, wherever life decays into the profane, She is there—an obscenity of growth, mutation, and divine excess. Shub-Niggurath is summoned, not worshipped. Her name is howled in orgiastic rituals under the new moon, her children birthed screaming from trees, earth, and human wombs alike. Unlike Cthulhu's slumbering menace, Shub-Niggurath is awake—and always giving birth to horrors that crawl back into the void, leaving madness and miracles in their wake.

Scholar’s Record – Archivist Nh'rel-Tak
“On the third supplication of the Rooted Hymn, the trees bled. From beneath the soil, not rot, but womb—pulsing, slick, and eternal. I was chosen. My limbs split, eyes opened on my ribs, and in the center of it all, She came—chanting through the mouths of her children. I birthed a godling that devoured time. It still speaks in my breath.”
Investigator Advisory
- Avoid forested regions during lunar perigee.
- If local fauna begin to chant, evacuate the region.
- Do not consume food in areas marked by hoofprints with more than four toes.
- First sign of influence: dreams of infinite forests and reverse-growing trees.
- Second sign: bodily changes during sleep (flesh budding, spontaneous lactation, womb hallucinations regardless of sex).
Supplemental Notes
According to exiled monastic cults and scattered pages of the Pnakotic Manuscripts, Shub-Niggurath is a cosmic reproductive engine—a god-womb in perpetual birth-cycle. She does not exist in reality, but through it, pushing life beyond limits into chaos. Worshipers consider her the Mother of All and End of All. Some hypothesize that every evolutionary aberration, every monstrous hybrid, every mythic beast, is one of her Thousand Young, lost and breeding. Others argue she is not a being, but a living entropy of biology—a function of chaos that corrupts the very concept of life.
Warning: This file has been reconstructed from dream remnants, trance scribbles, and neural echoes of compromised archivists. Exposure may result in altered perception, loss of narrative continuity, or spontaneous cult formation. Proceed with extreme cautionThis dossier was recovered from a birthing grove in the Silent Marshes. All prior recorders were absorbed into the “archive organism.” Exposure to this file may induce generative hallucinations, hormonal shifts, or localized fauna convergence. Do not read aloud in wooded areas.
