Description
Ebrietas is a Great One, an eldritch being not of earth but of the incomprehensible cosmos beyond. Towering, tentacled, and grotesque, she resembles a cross between a mollusk and an inverted sea anemone—her glistening flesh translucent, her body veined with bioluminescent patterns that pulse like the stars. Twin eye-clusters stare with vacant omniscience from a mass of writhing tendrils that extend like prayerful limbs. She was once communed with by the Choir, a sect of the Healing Church, who believed Ebrietas to be humanity's bridge to the divine. But in their quest for ascension, they failed to comprehend her nature—not salvation, but surrender. She is a symbol of unreachable transcendence and the madness born of seeking it. Her presence fractures time, memory, and ego. To encounter Ebrietas is to gaze upon the cosmos—and be seen in return.

“The sky cracked when I looked too long. There was no sound. No heat. Just her. Ebrietas, radiant and obscene. Her limbs were prayers. Her face was not a face, but a weeping flower. I wept too—until my thoughts aligned into a spiral, inward, inward. I do not remember my name. I do not need it now.”
Investigator Advisory
- Avoid prolonged eye contact with stellar alignments or abyssal geometric forms.
- Do not ingest unknown serum labeled "Celestial Ichor."
- If you begin seeing halos around blood, isolate immediately.
- First sign of contact: persistent ringing in the ears accompanied by stellar constellations in the peripheral vision.
- Second sign: inability to distinguish dreams from memories
Supplemental Notes
Ebrietas is considered by some to be a larval form—a rejected daughter of the cosmos seeking reunion with a source beyond comprehension. The Choir theorized she is a remnant of the Great Ones' failed communion with man, and her appearance in the world is a symptom of the veil thinning. Her “blood” is said to rewrite genetic memory, altering its host into beings more fit to commune with the stars. It is unknown whether Ebrietas can be destroyed in any traditional sense. Some suggest she is merely a projection, and that her real form exists on the other side of dream-space, within the spiraling void beyond the Lunar Presence.
